JACKSON, Miss. – The Cirlot Agency was named a winner in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards for its piece, titled “Choices,” created for Belhaven University. With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.
The Agency was one of only two winners in the Regional TV and Multi-Market Cable for Schools, Colleges and Universities category.
“The ‘Choices’ television ad is a great example of what creativity can do when coupled with keen strategic thinking,” said Kevin Russell, vice president for advancement at Belhaven University. “The Cirlot Agency is great at helping their clients find dazzling solutions to difficult problems.”
For the spot, The Cirlot Agency showed a high school student sitting in her bedroom, surrounded by viewbooks from various universities, and she is visibly frustrated. She begins to rip pieces from each book, representing the different things she likes about each one. She tosses the ripped pages into the air, and they begin to swirl, twirl and come together, like magic. Beautiful golden trails follow the pages until they come together and form one book: the Belhaven University viewbook. The book falls into her hands, opens, and a glow emits from the pages onto her amazed and elated face.
The voice over, in a British accent, speaks of finding “Your Place … Your Purpose” at Belhaven University.
“The Cirlot Agency took the very complex idea of college choice, and addressed it through both the mind and emotion of a student who is actively grappling with that decision,” said Dr. Roger Parrott, president of Belhaven University. “I was amazed they could communicate in 30 seconds what takes books to explain in the field of higher education.”

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past Telly winner and a member of the Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Silver Telly, our highest honor. Approximately 25% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Bronze Telly.
